The best method to obtain your desired colour is colour by numbers – where an image is corrected by making colour adjustments to each element within an image to their known values. When calibrating a scanner – an image containing known colour values is scanned and the resulting image is corrected (hopefully with the scanning software) to it's known values.
Professional colour correction is achieved in a similar way. Each element within the photograph has a specific colour. The objective is to correct the image so that in the final output – all the colours of the elements are at their realistic or idealistic values. This is where printed references to colour are an excellent guide to correcting colour. Let the printed references (Master Colour Targets, Colour Space References and Pantone ProSim Colour Swatch Book) be your guide.
ColourMO - Personal colour database.
The stand alone database application ColourMO' supplied is a tool for the storage and retrieval of approved (known) colour values. When correcting an image such as the picture of the fruit, a search of the database will return approved values for each of the fruits. Variations on approved values for elements can be added in the database as well as new elements. As the database grows – realistic and idealistic colour correction can be achieved quicker and more accurately.
